This time of year is always a busy period for Pleavin Power, but even we couldn’t have anticipated the monumental task ahead. Such challenges don’t come around often, but when they do, they remind us of our purpose and drive. With the combined strength, expertise and commitment of our team, as well as the support of local businesses, we were ready to face the task head-on.
Renowned for our expertise in power generation, we were recently called upon by a client to step in during a disaster scenario— a job that others had deemed impossible. Confident in our capabilities, we knew we were the right team to turn the situation around and get it done.
The challenge? Pumping 110,000 cubic metres of water within a critical three-hour high tide window to maintain dock levels and keep lock operations running smoothly. This was vital to ensure shipping schedules stayed on track. Together, we delivered an over-pumping solution that others said couldn’t be done, meeting the client’s needs without compromising operations.
Since the initial call, we’ve mobilised over 18 trucks of equipment, cleared shrubs and fences and installed a 2000kVA power package, five 4500m³-an-hour pumps and fuel tanks. The project has pushed us in ways we’ve never been tested before. Over one weekend alone, we coordinated more than 30 HGVs, 150-ton cranes, lift teams and installation personnel—all working together to deliver.
Through determination, we successfully restored shipping operations to normal, ensuring schedules remained on track. The project is still ongoing and we continue to provide round-the-clock support to maintain the processes now in place.
