We are looking for skilled, experienced hard hard-working and talented industrial electricians to join the installation team at Bromborough. You will need to be experienced in the installation of metal containment and support systems using uni-strut, ladder, trunking, conduit and wiring various types of cabling. The successful candidate will be required to work out of our Bromborough HQ and attend customer sites up and down the UK as needed.
Previous Experience, skills & qualifications (required)
- Ability to communicate concisely and factually at all levels with both non-technical and technical colleagues, customers, and suppliers
- A recognised apprenticeship in an electrical installation and electrical maintenance discipline with least 3 years’ experience in a similar field-based electrical service engineers’ role.
- 18th edition qualification (City and Guilds 2382-18) or similar
- Inspection and testing qualification (City and Guilds 2391)
- ECS card holder (Gold card)
- Ability to competently and proficiently use the Microsoft office suite, specifically Word
- and Outlook, for emails, report writing and system monitoring.
- Installation of metal containment (cable tray, ladder rack, trunking & conduit) and support systems (uni-strut & fixings)
- Experience in pulling & dressing SWA cables
- Experience in glanding of various size armoured cables
- Experience in fault finding
- Experience in wiring regulations
General Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years fully qualified experience in commercial/industrial electrical installation
- Working nationally (some nights out required) Installing both permanent & temporary power systems
- Take part in the on-call Rota
- This will be a national role and will require the ability to work away from home. As our business expands further, we will look to split the role into regional responsibilities for this role.
- Full UK driving license (clean license preferred)
- Good grasp of the English language (reading & writing)
- Good numerate & reading skills
- Good with heights & confined spaces
- Must have a good proactive attitude and able to liaise with clients on site
- Work in other departments as and when the business requires.
- Support of the mechanical team, ensuring all electrical systems are always safe before the commencement of works whilst adhering to RAMS and on site Risk Assessments.
- Carry out in depth fault diagnosis and fault finding of electrical equipment associated with Generators, CHP units, control panels and PLC’s.
- Carry out annual electrical services including insulation resistance testing on Alternators, Motors and temperature assessments and recordings using calibrated test equipment.
- Install additional electrical equipment such as PLC’s, invertor drives, Power factor correction units, electrical testing and monitoring equipment, trace heating, lighting, and power supplies.
- Install cable containment and associated earth bonding.
- Assist installation of new mains cables and associated switchgear.
- Assist mechanical team in the safe removal and replacement of alternators, pumps, and switchgear.
- Removal and retrofit of Generator control systems.
- Completing all service repair and defects via a digital service software & understand the need to capture clear and concise records.
- Ensure the service van is fully stocked up and ready to respond with a first-time fix.
- Assist workshop engineering resources as required.
- Involvement with apprentice training and coaching of young engineers and interdepartmental colleagues.
- Adaptable to change and open communication alongside design and wider team as to how systems can be improved to aid maintenance and the uptime of the engine.
- Understand how to reduce any unplanned downtime by system alterations and improvements.
- Regular skills testing and product awareness.
