The Problem
When a global animal feed manufacturer was suffering downtime due to loss of electricity supply and their critical standby generator failed, Pleavin Power were called upon to support them. From initial mobilisation to having resource on site took 38 minutes. Once an engineer made an assessment of the situation the decision was made to deploy emergency generation to get the clients plant online. With power restored we identified some of the major issues the on-site generator had and found multiple cracks and failed gaskets in the aged radiator cooling pack.
The Solution
With the site supported with temporary generation, our in-house ERV with a Fassi 660 was immediately deployed and our engineering team devised a strategic removal plan to facilitate the radiator repair. The generator enclosure sound attenuation was removed to provide the team with a safe means of access and egress for the 1,200KG cooling pack. We supplied a two ton Linde forklift truck, jack’s, lifting tackle, blocks, skates and lifting plan therefore providing the full turn-key solution. With the radiator removed it was overhauled including a new core, header and base tank gaskets, pressure test and two year warranty. The removal process was reversed and successful installation of the repaired radiator took place, the team rebuilt and commissioned the critical power system for the client hassle free. With this done the emergency power units were decommissioned and safely removed from site, now protected by one of our industry leading SLA Agreements.
