The challenge
Advanced Electrical Services (AES), an electrical industrial contracting company operating nationwide, were working on a customer’s site when a major fault occurred within the existing switchgear. The equipment had not been maintained and, following an incident on site, the fire brigade locked the switchgear down, preventing AES from inspecting the full extent of the damage.
With their client at risk and the switchgear inaccessible, AES could not safely restore power. The situation unfolded late on a Sunday evening, leaving Managing Director Lee Johnson urgently trying to secure standby generators to maintain continuity and protect his customer from significant disruption. The Impact
The Impact
AES had a duty of care to their customer, but without visibility of the internal damage, energising the system was not an option. Any delay risked prolonged downtime, escalating costs, and reputational impact. With limited access to suppliers at that time of night, AES needed a reliable partner who could respond immediately.
The Solution
Pleavin Power answered the call straight away and mobilised a rapid response. Within hours, arrangements were confirmed, and our engineers were on site before lunchtime the following day.
Understanding the seriousness of the situation, our focus was on supporting AES – not exploiting the urgency. The team carefully designed a temporary power solution using two 1000kVA power packages, each complete with a generator, 3000-litre fuel tank, three sets of 240mm cables, and thirty sets of 240mm tails. To reach the necessary locations on site, we also supplied an additional three sets of 240mm cable, extending the runs to 50 metres. A 2000 amp automatic transfer switch changeover panel was installed to ensure seamless power switching and maximum operational safety.
This setup allowed AES to stabilise power quickly, maintaining their customer’s operations while the switchgear remained isolated. AES praised our engineers for being “knowledgeable, friendly, and highly professional,” highlighting their clear guidance, hands-on support, and seamless communication throughout the project.
The Results
