Installation Electrician

We are looking for skilled, experienced hard hard-working and talented industrial electricians to join the installation team at Bromborough. You will need to be experienced in the installation of metal containment and support systems using uni-strut, ladder, trunking, conduit and wiring various types of cabling. The successful candidate will be required to work out of our Bromborough HQ and attend customer sites up and down the uk as needed

Previous Experience, skills & qualifications (required)

  • Ability to communicate concisely and factually at all levels with both non-technical and technical colleagues, customers, and suppliers
  • A recognised apprenticeship in an electrical installation and electrical maintenance discipline with least 3 years’ experience in a similar field-based electrical service engineers’ role.
  • 18th edition qualification (City and Guilds 2382-18) or similar
  • Inspection and testing qualification (City and Guilds 2391)
  • ECS card holder (Gold card)
  • Ability to competently and proficiently use the Microsoft office suite, specifically Word
  • and Outlook, for emails, report writing and system monitoring.
  • Installation of metal containment (cable tray, ladder rack, trunking & conduit) and support systems (uni-strut & fixings)
  • Experience in pulling & dressing SWA cables
  • Experience in glanding of various size armoured cables
  • Experience in fault finding
  • Experience in wiring regulations
 

General Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years fully qualified experience in commercial/industrial electrical installation
  • Working nationally (some nights out required) Installing both permanent & temporary power systems
  • Take part in the on-call Rota
  • This will be a national role and will require the ability to work away from home. As our business expands further, we will look to split the role into regional responsibilities for this role.
  • Full UK driving license (clean license preferred)
  • Good grasp of the English language (reading & writing)
  • Good numerate & reading skills
  • Good with heights & confined spaces
  • Must have a good proactive attitude and able to liaise with clients on site
  • Work in other departments as and when the business requires.
  • Support of the mechanical team, ensuring all electrical systems are always safe before the commencement of works whilst adhering to RAMS and on site Risk Assessments.
  • Carry out in depth fault diagnosis and fault finding of electrical equipment associated with Generators, CHP units, control panels and PLC’s.
  • Carry out annual electrical services including insulation resistance testing on Alternators, Motors and temperature assessments and recordings using calibrated test equipment.
  • Install additional electrical equipment such as PLC’s, invertor drives, Power factor correction units, electrical testing and monitoring equipment, trace heating, lighting, and power supplies.
  • Install cable containment and associated earth bonding.
  • Assist installation of new mains cables and associated switchgear.
  • Assist mechanical team in the safe removal and replacement of alternators, pumps, and switchgear.
  • Removal and retrofit of Generator control systems.
  • Completing all service repair and defects via a digital service software & understand the need to capture clear and concise records.
  • Ensure the service van is fully stocked up and ready to respond with a first-time fix.
  • Assist workshop engineering resources as required.
  • Involvement with apprentice training and coaching of young engineers and interdepartmental colleagues.
  • Adaptable to change and open communication alongside design and wider team as to how systems can be improved to aid maintenance and the uptime of the engine.
  • Understand how to reduce any unplanned downtime by system alterations and improvements.
  • Regular skills testing and product awareness.

Yard Supervisor

We rely on our Yard Supervisors to manage a busy yard to make sure that products are readily available for deliveries and stock is maintained and stored correctly. Based in our Bromborough, you’ll be part of a team where everyone is putting the effort and get the job done. 

Permanent Day shift 7:00AM – 16:00PM 9-hour shift (8 hours paid 1 hour break), bank holidays are part of the normal rota. 

Here’s a quick overview of some of the things you can expect to do as a Yard Supervisor:

  • Managing the operations in the yard on behalf of the workshop manager and makingsure that the day-to-day running of the yard runs smoothly
  • Supporting with loading and unloading our vehicles
  • Being responsible for goods inwards/outwards and documentation
  • Looking after stock, noting any faulty/damaged goods, low stock levels and reportingthese to the workshop manager
  • Yard security (within working hours)
  • Cleanliness of service yard and workshop
  • Bulk fuel tank fuel level checks
  • AdBlue tank level checks
  • Clean oil tank level checks
  • Clean oil IBC quantity checks
  • Empty IBC quantity checks

Field Service Engineer

We are looking for an experienced senior Generator Service/Project Engineer to join our growing close-knit team. As a Generator Engineer, you will have an integral role within the business, assisting in the delivery of the business’s on-site activities. You must be able to work independently or as part of a team to meet customer expectations and achieve our company goals. 

This role is based in Bromborough with the expectation to travel where needed, nights away will also be required on occasions. You will work under the operations/service department to carry out routine maintenance on company assets along with our customer’s own equipment ranging from 20kva – 3000kva, predominantly in the field but may be required to work in the service centre at Bromborough.  

The ideal candidate will be proficient in both electrical and mechanical maintenance.  

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • To cover all aspects of generator servicing including oil & filter changes and oil, fuel, and coolant sampling
  • To conduct load bank testing on generator units
  • To accurately fault-find and diagnose both mechanical and electrical issues
  • To work on a broad range of generator/engine brands including (but not limited to) Cummins, JCB, Caterpillar, Volvo, Scania, and Iveco
  • To be able to work independently on engines from 20kVA to 3000KVA
  • To complete all types of engine repairs (both mechanical and electrical)
  • Fuel pumps, engine belts, starter motors, fuel hoses, cooling systems, AVR’s etc. 
  • Batteries, battery chargers, water jacket heaters, starter cables, key switches etc. 
  • To be able to interrogate different control systems such as DSE, ComAp and DEIF
  • To understand changeover systems and synchronising of paired generators
  • To be able to complete or assist on mechanical engine rebuilds / top end overhauls
  • To be able to complete or assist on control panel upgrade works / retrofits
  • To demonstrate knowledge and experience of both mechanical and electrical skillsets
  • To understand/carry out the installation of both temporary & permanent Generator installations
 

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Good level of general education 
  • Minimum of 5 years previous experience with a reputable Generator organisation. 
  • Valid CSCS/ECS card 
  • Ability to manage own workload and establish priorities

Junior CAD Engineer

Pleavin Power is one of the UK’s largest independent generator companies with over five years of experience in the industry. 

Pleavin Power has grown in recent years and is ready for further expansion. This growth allows a Junior CAD engineer to join our depot in Bromborough. 

Based at our Bromborough HQ supporting the Projects & The Electrical and Commissioning Teams. 

Duties/Responsibilities

  • To produce detailed drawings, assembly drawings, construction/design drawings and bill of materials for Projects & Upgrades  
  • Preparing M&E drawings
  • Preparing layout drawings  
  • Prepare wiring diagrams/connection schematics  
  • Amending drawings (including schematics) to Engineers mark-ups
  • Preparation of Workshop drawings and production schedules
  • To produce parts lists and manuals as required by customers using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Assist with site visits and surveys where required related to the design/build of new or retro-fit control panels and systems
  • Update existing drawings and complete as built drawings, where required
  • Able to comply and maintain company’s CAD standards and workflows
