Night Shift Engineer

Pleavin Power has grown in recent years and is ready for further expansion. This growth offers the opportunity for a Night Shift Engineer to join our depot in Bromborough, who will be responding to breakdowns and emergency call-outs as well as carrying out routine maintenance & remedial works. 

Permanent Night shift 18:00PM – 6:00AM 12 hour shift (11 hours paid 1 hour break) 4 on 4 off rota. Weekends and bank holidays are part of the normal rota. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned service and maintenance work on both hire fleet and customer equipment
  • Fault location, diagnosis, and rectification to hire fleet and customer equipment
  • Preparation of equipment for hire
  • Installation and commissioning of power to temporary on site
  • Loading and unloading of vehicles
  • Carry out general housekeeping to ensure work areas are tidy
  • Completion and submission of all company paperwork as per procedure
  • Safeguard all Company assets; nothing leaves the depot without the correct paperwork
  • Ensure company vehicle or occasional loan vehicle supplied, is kept clean and tidy at all times, serviced within manufacturer’s guidelines, and ensure any defects are notified to correct parties and rectified promptly
  • Attend breakdowns of our own hire fleet & customers’ assets
  • To cover all aspects of generator servicing including oil & filter changes and oil, fuel, and coolant sampling
  • To conduct load bank testing on generator units
  • To accurately fault find and diagnose both mechanical and electrical issues
  • To work on a broad range of generator / engine brands including (but not limited to) Cummins, JCB, Caterpillar, Volvo, Scania, Iveco
  • To be able to work independently on engines from 60kVA to 3000KVA
  • To complete all types of engine repairs (both mechanical and electrical)
  • Fuel pumps, engine belts, starter motors, fuel hoses, cooling systems, AVR’s etc.
  • Batteries, battery chargers, water jacket heaters, starter cables, key-switches etc.
  • To be able to interrogate different control systems such as DSE, ComAp and DEIF
  • To understand changeover systems and synchronising of multiple generators
  • To be able to complete or assist on mechanical engine rebuilds / top end overhauls
  • To be able to complete or assist on control panel upgrade works/retrofits
  • To demonstrate knowledge and experience of both mechanical and electrical skillsets
 

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years previous experience with a reputable Generator Hire organisation
  • Good level of general education
  • Valid CSCS/ECS card
  • Ability to manage own workload and establish priorities
  • Experience of working effectively as part of a team as well as independently
  • Ability to solve problems with a positive attitude
  • Self-motivated and able to learn quickly
  • Strong attention to detail with high levels of accuracy
  • Willingness to undertake further training as required for professional development
  • Able to liaise with customers professionally and convey information
  • Have an understanding that the industry regularly operates within un-sociable hours
 

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Brand specific generator training courses

  • C+E Driving licence

Yard Supervisor

We rely on our Yard Supervisors to manage a busy yard and work alongside our Yard Operatives and Drivers to make sure that products are readily available for deliveries and stock is maintained and stored correctly. 

Working in one of our branches you’ll be part of a team where everyone is putting the effort in to offer brilliant customer service and to get the job done.

Permanent Day shift 6:00AM – 18:00PM 12-hour shift (11 hours paid 1 hour break), bank holidays are part of the normal rota.

Here’s a quick overview of some of the things you can expect to do as a Yard Supervisor with Pleavin Power:

  • Managing the operations in the yard on behalf of the workshop manager and making sure that the day-to-day running of the yard runs smoothly
  • Supporting with loading and unloading our vehicles
  • Being responsible for goods inwards/outwards and documentation
  • Looking after stock, noting any faulty/damaged goods, low stock levels and reporting these to the workshop manager
  • Yard security (within working hours)
  • Cleanliness of service yard and workshop
  • Bulk fuel tank fuel level checks
  • AdBlue tank level checks
  • Clean oil tank level checks
  • Clean oil IBC quantity checks
  • Empty IBC quantity checks
  • Clean coolant level checks
  • Waste oil tank level checks
  • Waste coolant level checks
  • Waste filter bin level check
  • Hazardous waste bin checks
  • Workshop waste bins emptying
  • Waste skip checks
  • Workshop floor cleaning
  • Hire assets located in correct storage holding areas within service yard
  • Loading of transport vehicles
  • Unloading of transport vehicles
  • Receipt and booking in of incoming Service Centre deliveries.
  • Receipt and booking out of outgoing Service Centre collections
  • Pre-use operator checks on FLT’s
  • Pre-use operator checks on floor cleaner
  • Floor cleaner battery charging hook up

Field Service Engineer

We are looking for an experienced senior Generator Service/Project Engineer to join our growing close-knit team. As a Generator Engineer, you will have an integral role within the business, assisting in the delivery of the business’s on-site activities. You must be able to work independently or as part of a team to meet customer expectations and achieve our company goals. 

This role is based in Bromborough with the expectation to travel where needed, nights away will also be required on occasions. You will work under the operations/service department to carry out routine maintenance on company assets along with our customer’s own equipment ranging from 20kva – 3000kva, predominantly in the field but may be required to work in the service centre at Bromborough.  

The ideal candidate will be proficient in both electrical and mechanical maintenance.  

Duties/Responsibilities:

Junior CAD Engineer

Pleavin Power is one of the UK’s largest independent generator companies with over five years of experience in the industry. 

Pleavin Power has grown in recent years and is ready for further expansion. This growth allows a Junior CAD engineer to join our depot in Bromborough. 

Based at our Bromborough HQ supporting the Projects & The Electrical and Commissioning Teams. 

Duties/Responsibilities

  • To produce detailed drawings, assembly drawings, construction/design drawings and bill of materials for Projects & Upgrades  
  • Preparing M&E drawings
  • Preparing layout drawings  
  • Prepare wiring diagrams/connection schematics  
  • Amending drawings (including schematics) to Engineers mark-ups
  • Preparation of Workshop drawings and production schedules
  • To produce parts lists and manuals as required by customers using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Assist with site visits and surveys where required related to the design/build of new or retro-fit control panels and systems
  • Update existing drawings and complete as built drawings, where required
  • Able to comply and maintain company’s CAD standards and workflows
 
Essential Skills & Experience
 
  • Good level of general education 
  • Good IT skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office 
  • Working knowledge of preferred CAD packages
